Hello World

Today, on October 26, 2025, I felt the need to start a blog.
I've been wanting to start a blog for some time now--ever since I'd been (voluntarily) unemployed and had a lot more free time to experiment with my lifestyle. Up until now, I'd only update one close friend with how these experiments turn out (in the form of Discord DMs--I'd literally spend hours typing out my thoughts in his Discord DMs stream-of-consciousness style). With this blog, I'm hoping to share my experiences with more people, since I'm sure there'll be some of you that find them interesting, and hopefully useful in your own life!
Though, the spark that pushed me to actually start writing came from my recent decision to switch from Apple to Android for the very obscure reason of wanting to use an e-ink display. To be honest, I didn't think the concept of a Kindle that doubled as a phone was that crazy, but somehow I could only find one e-ink phone with cellular support (that didn't ship with an outdated Android version).
After weeks of tinkering (including a failed attempt that bricked my first order), I'd finally been able to get a custom Android build installed on this phone, in large part thanks to a singular blog written by a developer who helped make it possible in the first place. Seeing how valuable this single person's blog post was for me, I felt inspired to start my own. Of course, I'd read many blogs before this one (notable mentions include fasterthanli.me, benkuhn.net and collegeinfogeek.com back in my high school study days, as well as many, many blog posts from various developers). And of course, they're all insightful and inspiring in their own right, but the difference this time was seeing how a single post materialized into a significant change in my day-to-day life (it's been a couple of days since switching phones and it still feels a bit unreal every time I use this e-ink phone, which I'll write more about in a future blog post).
As for what I'm planning to write about, I'm not quite sure. Right now, my priority with this blog is to not let it die out a couple of weeks from now, so the only rule I'll set for myself is to publish at least one post a week. The main topics I'm personally interested in is the intersection between technology and self-improvement, which is likely what my first couple of posts will probably center around. Unfortunately, I currently have a bunch of other higher-priority projects I need to finish, so I can't dedicate too much time to writing and otherwise improving this blog, so continue to expect shorter posts and the default Next.js boilerplate for the time being :smiling_face_with_tear:)
